钱大宝（潘长江 饰）与钱二宝（姜超 饰）是同父异母的兄弟，大宝当村主任，二宝办企业，一个偶发事件让哥俩情感产生了裂痕。这天，大宝邀全村老少参加女儿多多（潘阳 饰）的毕业宴会，不料全体食物中毒送往医院，经查与二宝企业排污有关，连满一花（孙宁 饰）在水库中所养的鱼在集市上也无人问津。新任乡长陶晓蕙（原华 饰）是大宝的高中同学，大宝与其还有过过节，晓蕙对大宝处理中毒事件的结果很不满意，认为他偏袒二宝。被查封企业的二宝因生产合同所逼，偷偷撕掉合同重新开工。大宝为了众乡亲生存安危，不惜以抱兄弟跳井相威胁，逼二宝关闭了工厂，从此，和睦相处几十年的兄弟形同路人……
